NYS Fair concert canceled on Wednesday; Fleetwood Mac tribute booked as a replacement

One of Wednesday’s free concerts at the New York State Fair has been canceled, but a tribute to one of the biggest bands of the ’70s and ’80s is planned to replace it.

The Seven Wonders, a Rochester-based tribute to Fleetwood Mac, will perform on the Chevy Court stage at the NYS Fair on Wednesday, August 30 at 1 p.m. Admission to the concert is free.

The Fleetwood Mac tribute show will replace R&B singer Danielle Ponder, a fellow Rochester musician who had to cancel two weeks of her performances “due to unforeseen circumstances,” show officials said Monday.

“I’m not feeling well and normally I would persevere but my body is crying out for a break,” Ponder wrote on Facebook.

The Seven Wonders formed in 2017 with musicians Teagan Ward, Matthew Stephens, Katy Eberts, Jon Sheffer, Matt Ramerman, Kyle Vock and Taylor Lee Smith. The group is known for their energetic performances and renditions of Fleetwood Mac hits like “Dreams”, “Go Your Own Way”, “Rhiannon” and “Landslide”.

This will be The Seven Wonders’ second appearance in Syracuse this month after playing with the Middle Ages Brewing Company last week. The concert was postponed to July after a car accident on the New York State Thruway; Eberts was injured but is recovering, with Mel Muscarella covering for her in the meantime.

The Seven Wonders will join Wednesday’s Women’s Day program, which also includes Chapel Hart at 6 p.m. at Chevy Court and Ann Wilson (of Heart) at 8 p.m. at Suburban Park

The 2023 New York State Fair runs through September 4th. All concerts are free. Admission is $6 for adults and free for seniors 65 and older and children 12 and younger.
